With fresh snow blanketing the landscape overnight, we grabbed our host’s snowshoes and set off on what was supposed to be a 12 km snowshoe hike with 640 meters of elevation gain. Well, plans changed quickly—being the first on the trail meant the snow was much deeper than expected. Time for a detour!
Starting from the parking down the Grünegg Alm, the trail leads up the sledding path to the Grünegg Alm. From here, the hustle of the valley fades away, and we only crossed paths with a handful of ski tourers. We couldn’t have asked for a better day—untouched snow, brilliant sunshine, and perfect winter temperatures.
Our original goal was to reach the Reicheralm, but with the deep snow slowing us down, we decided to adjust the route. Instead, we looped back to the Grünegg Alm for a well-earned break. After refueling, it was time for the grand finale: the 1.5 km toboggan run back to the valley! For just 5 EUR, you can rent a sled and enjoy a thrilling ride that perfectly caps off the day.
This snowy adventure was everything you’d want from a winter hike—breathtaking views, serene trails, and a dash of adrenaline to top it all off. If you’re in Dienten, don’t miss out on this magical experience!
